Title: Plastic Herbarium
Size: Variable (approximately 30 x 40 inchs)
I cut up plastic bags by hand into vines then layered them together. This piece can act as a literal shield to the sun as window blinds while creating playful shadows that mimic actual shadows from nature, like those from a tree.
In the exhibition, the visitors can see, touch and interact with the actual form of nature recreated from some plastic bags. The piece can be installed in front of window or it can hang from the ceiling or in a doorway, or simply against a wall.
By cutting up many plastic bags, I discovered the random beauty of different types of plastic, such as transparent, opaque and moving. I reused plastic bags in order to make people think and ultimately find ways themselves to reuse materials.
