Delineations Off the Rachis c.1980
deconstructed Rand McNally atlas from 1980, map tacks
6’w x 8’h (flexible)
This piece contains constructed flowers made from pages of an oversized reference atlas containing quantified information from 1980, both statistical and geographic. Such information is rendered increasingly unnecessary to the average American, as digital access to information becomes more immediate by the day.
This project deconstructs a reference book, with pages removed, cut, folded, and pinned into decorative flowers. These flowers address a transformation of values in the contemporary age of information.
